Here is a Korean proverb from my book of proverbs.
백옥이 먼지속에 묻힌다
white-jewel-SUBJ dust-pile-LOC be-hidden-PRES
A white jewel is hidden in the dust.
The book says it means a person of integrity retains his integrity even in misery.
I always liked the proverb about integrity that goes:
Integrity is what we do when no one is watching.
